Dr. Julia was enlightened enlightened from her podiatry practice. She included the nursing foot care people in their own practices. I especially learned something new: the lyric toenail. It lifts and separates from the nail bed. Causes are trauma to the toenail or infection making the nail onycholysis- damaged. A foot care professional can trim them, and thin out with a sander, but the damaged toenail will always lift up. Silver nitrate sticks can only be used by a dermatologist or podiatrist. Removal of ingrown toenail maybe less painful with an injection, once injected, the removal ( which) is usually painful will be much more comfortable for duration of removal. Only dermatologists or podiatrists can use silver nitrate sticks. Best procedure place for deep or tender ingrown is in a sterile clinic office.

5 of 5 Online Webinar- Fungus among us May 4, 2020

3 most important toenail layers; matrix where growth takes place- hidden underneath the nail bed; nail plate is the hard layer of toenail that grows on top and is comprised of layers of dead skin. Lyric nail is lifted up and away from the nail bed, caused by trauma or infection. Can trim but will always lift up. Ingrown toenails are painful, best to get a shot in the toe first by professional, less risk of infection in clinic versus home.Fungal treatments need an active ingredient to work well.

More like the Genius Team among us!!  Dr Julia, as always, you have  created a relevant, useful and easy to learn gem.  This was an awesome event and the presentation is spot on.  I have viewed many different educational videos on this topic but this was by far the most relevant and useful one I have seen.

I’ve attended Dr. Julia’s hands on workshops a couple of times.. We did not cover much on fungus on either of these days. How to deal with fungus is my most-asked question by Foot care clients. Though I’ve done a lot of research (journal articles) over the years, I will be forever grateful to Dr. Julia for this presentation on Onychomycosis! Thank-you Doctor!
